Infliction of a wound

Infliction of a wound

Infliction of a Wound is a zine developed as an integral part of an immersive installation by Melissa Rodriguez, exploring the healing process of human skin as a metaphor for societal healing across generations.

Through the analogy of a wound regenerating over time, the work reflects on the importance of acknowledging shared histories — both Indigenous and colonial — as an essential step in processes of reconciliation, learning, and collective repair.

The zine was produced using screen printing techniques and formed part of a collaborative project with Ethnodanceology and Katlen Gonzales. Both the zine and the installation were presented as part of Originario 2024, where movement, sound, and visual elements came together to explore memory, ancestry, and healing.
